Because of the bright color on the lay of the land these days, what a perfect time to introduce our first ever ingredient being featured; Canola Oil.
Canola oil is one of the main ingredients we use in our cold process soap. As we handcraft all of our products in the beautiful prairies of Alberta, naturally it made sense that we would utilize this oil.
It’s really enjoyable researching plants that we can watch being seeded and grow right before our eyes. My parents are farmers and I spent a lot of time in the combine eating these little specks of seeds after I had devoured all the other snacks my mom packed.
Canola oil is retrieved from the crushed seeds of the canola plant, which is part of the Brassica family. Vegetables like cabbage, cauliflower and broccoli are from the same family.
Canola oil is sold for consumption or external uses and has been known to be an extremely beneficial oil. It has been known to lower cholesterol, reduce inflammation and of course help with skin problems. (and it’s good for your heart too!)
Canola oil is rich in vitamins E and K which help with fine lines, acne and blemishes. Vitamin E is a powerful anti-oxidant and can help the skin retain a more youthful appearance. The fatty acids in canola oil also sooth and nurture dry, inflamed skin.
With all the benefits of canola, we are proud to watch these little yellow flower bloom so that we can use the natural oils in our soap, providing a beneficial and healthy bar.
Also, a big thank you to our farmers! We couldn’t do it without you!
